Procedural cave generation insights


Welcome back everyone to another devlog update. This time, I have something more concrete to show in form of a video devlog. In there I am going to show some major progress on:

  • mineral spawning
  • procedural cave generation
  • revamped UI
  • Xbox controller support

Many of you are eagerly waiting for the 0.1 Smithing Update, however, I have not implemented that yet. Reason being is that I want to invent a crafting system that fulfills the following criteria:

  • easy to use, hard to master
  • skill-based
  • intuitive
  • physical / not UI based

Especially, the last point is a difficult one because I want to create a system that is happening in the world rather than on a UI screen. A lot of games often have crafting systems that 90% happen in the UI only. There is 0 skill involved. I want to do something different and I am currently researching on that topic by watching tons of smithing videos.
